Time Pieces Mapping the time and space of place
Time Pieces explores time and space as definers of place -- what is place, what constitutes a sense of place, how place defines us. The work is an assemblage of seven three-dimensional maps in which time is the z-axis. The maps, one for each day of the week, record where I went and when over the course of each day. Their dimensions reflect both the area I covered and the time I was out and about. This piece draws on Torsten Hagerstrand's time-space model for understanding how we interact with our surroundings.Trimble global positioning system equipment was used to collect the locational data, and the maps were generated with ArcView mapping software. The towers are constructed of brass tubing and armback connectors that have been treated to achieve a patina like that formed with the passage of time. At the top and bottom of each tower is the map for the day, sandwiched between clear acrylic plates. Running between these maps is a copper wire that marks time and place simultaneously. Each one-inch increment of wire is equal to five minutes, except where there are brass coils and washers. Each brass coil denotes an hour.

One of the devices hunts the light

This is one of experiment the device is always hungry for light, it constantly runs towards it.

For my project purpose is to design several system supply the information into Global Positioning system.One fo my devices could become the light hunter that has light sensor to sensitize the trace of light.The device follows the light and moves around,at the samt time to leave the trace of route that is one part of drawings.Anothe part of drawings is using infrared rays to measure the space of its route and then connect with GPS to upload personal trip pages.These mapping drawings can be notation to be read on the reality Google map with
personal trip blog.Furthermore, the system could be virtual synthesis geography into a spatial projection and people can explore through the cities and simulate the landscapes.It is a form of personal cartography that document personal life as visual journal.

Shadow Study

This device shows the different position of light and affects the shadow of objects.
First of all, the light source had located on Z (of 1,2,3).The shadow of objects had been shown three different layers and different materials of objects had been shown on the notation board.
Then, changing the light source of position from X (of 1,2,3,4,5) to Y (of 1,2,3,4,5) is clearly to see the shadow of objects had been affected by different location.
