Beneath the shadow

According to the maps,I begin to look through from the new scope to the real sites:
Swamp:
model observe and explore the environments

Forest:
model observe and explore the environments
Cliff:

First Term:(6)Mapping the installation of the route

Swamp's map:

Forest's map:

Cliff's map:

Following the journey plan, the installation points out individually the position between three sites, and the installation has to shift and move the shadow of environments. As we know, the shadow follows the sun light to move so that drawing the map of shadow in three drawings.

Cliff:

The installation hides in the crevice in the cliff, when sun rise and go down during a day, the installation has to move between the shadows of crevice so that the drawing mapped the route and trace of installation.

The similar method uses in the forest and swamp.

Forest:

Because the sun light through the forest and project the shadow of trees, the device shifts inside of these. However in order to survey the trace, the map has to fold into the angle and follow the light to draw the shift.

Swamp:

Water is the element of swamp and some creatures live in the swamp on matter the plant or animals. They have to leave their trace on the surface and produce the rippling. Because the light reflects the movement and the shadow of water so that the device shifts on the water of surface.

According to the characteristic of the installation that conceal inside of shadow, each map develops the different methods to survey the sites. At the same time, the maps were designed the specialty installations for these three sites. Furthermore, the original device continues to sense the environments and become a sensor to touch and perceive the space of the darkness.

Art machines-Machine Art

To create a machine as an artwork and to entrust it with the responsibility of developing further artworks is a radical step. It means delegating creativity to a piece of equipment. Do such art machines then possess a “soul”? Indeed, they develop a dynamic of their own and enable the creation of an artwork that is an independent work – but they lack the capacity to lead the work to its conclusion. The machine with its automatic process does not posses the faculty of decision nor the possibility of selection. What is produced are mechanical works of art lacking the factor finality, but they are nevertheless a fundamental avowal of and testimony to the sovereignty of the machine and the basic belief in the possibilities of creative production beyond the act of the individual.

Cities without names

Without Walls: An Interview with Lebbeus Woods

Lebbeus Woods is one of the first architects I knew by name – not Frank Lloyd Wright or Mies van der Rohe, but Lebbeus Woods – and it was Woods's own technically baroque sketches and models, of buildings that could very well be machines (and vice versa), that gave me an early glimpse of what architecture could really be about.
Woods's work is the exclamation point at the end of a sentence proclaiming that the architectural imagination, freed from constraints of finance and buildability, should be uncompromising, always. One should imagine entirely new structures, spaces without walls, radically reconstructing the outermost possibilities of the built environment.
If need be, we should re-think the very planet we stand on.

the device of drawing:Camera Lucida

Camera Lucida: An Optical Illusion for Artists

At the diagram above shows, there are two mirrors in the 'eye piece' of a camera lucida: a
normal one and a half-silvered (one-way or semi-transparent) one. The object is reflected from
first mirror onto the half-silvered one. Your eye sees this reflection and simultaneously looks
through this mirror to see the paper too, so it appears that object if on the paper. (See this
photo for what you'll see if you were working on a black sheet of paper.)

Reference: David Hockney's Theory About the Old Masters Using a Camera Lucida

In his book Secret Knowledge the artist David Hockney set out his controversial thesis that
various Old Masters used a camera lucida and other optical devices. According to Hockney
this can be seen in the shift in style of portraiture in the fifteenth century.

First Term:(5)Surveying and drawing the journey plan

Drawing the trace of installation in cliff:
Drawing the trace of installation in forest:
Drawing the trace of installation in swamp:

The relationship of traces in three enviroments:

According to the photograph studying environments, the device tries to measure the position in three environments. The installation constructs the journey plan into different position:

Swamp: X+Y plan, X= distance, Y= deep

Forest: X+Z elevation, X+Z, X=distance, Z=wide/range

Cliff: Y+Z section, Y= height , Z=wide

Therefore, setting the calibration and coordinate into the drawing and recorded the movement of installation that I how to use the device for the site plan and draw the trace of device in order to survey which place is better for picnic.

In three drawings show the relationship of traces in three environments.

First Term:(4)Developong object and environment study

Time-base object modle:A navigator

Developing the installation measures the three sites and use different methods to orientate the opsition in order to discover which place is better for ni
ne characteristics to have a picnic. The installation launches a ceremony to measure the opsition. It could be call a navigator
and use
topology to survery and map the site plan.

In the swamp, the intallation from tree sails into swamp and use the diagonal and vertical to measure the distance and deep of swamp.

In the forest, the navigator use trangulaton and viewfinder to project the site.

In the cliff, because of geography, before climbing the cliff the intallation use calibration and coordinate and use a kind of parallax to measure the geography of cliff. Somehow, the intallation have to be put into crevice to measure the angle of crack.According to site plan, sometimes the crevice is suitable place to have a picnic.

1.11.08

First Term:(3)Nine characteristics have a picnic-notate in drawing

Taking nine characteristics have a picnic into three environments:

These inne characteristics communicate with their sites.

For instance,in the forest, standing the opposite bank to look the forest, some parts of forest become an inverted reflection in the water. Because of water line, I use a horizontal position to put the nine characteristics into there. Some of them are revealed and concealed. For example,"F" is a puzzle frame to change a measure of stick to become the coordinate axis. Because sunlight through the forest, it produces the shadow and the shadow shred the shape of trees. That "C" is happened in the forest.

Notation of nine characteristucs:

One+ = A: juxtapose-put things together, especially things that are not normally together, in order to compare them or to make something new.

Two+ = B: Because of changing proportion and scale, the image is constrained of measure.

Three+= C: Shredding the image and mirror and extending it.

Four+= D: Plaited resembled pictures-strip it and hybrid it.

Five+ = E:pleat and folding, the image is revealed or concealed

Six+ = F: a sliding puzzle that consists of a frame of numbered square tiles in random order with one tile missing.- a puzzle frame is a coordinate axis for pictures.

Seven+=G: Excerpt and addition on an existing strip and reframed it.

Eight+= H: One object exist the similar spaces ,however, effect of events are different owing to locatin on different environment.

Nine+= I: Using different objects to describe the effect of events
